Tribune - November 4, 1965 with caption "1898 KILL IN DRUID
HILLS by Frank DRAKE."
(according to
the article) This deer was killed on Thanksgiving Day
in 1898 by Frank DRAKE at the age of 15 in the woods of what is
now known as the Druid Hills area of Hendersonville, North
Carolina. Frank stands in the center of the picture taken at
the Henderson County Court House with one hand on the deer's
antlers and the other hand on his gun. Others in the photo
include Jessie REESE, Will PAINTER, Edtridge HEFFNER, Pink CAMP,
Joe BRYON, his uncle Lee DRAKE, J. Fanning DRAKE, Oscar DRAKE,
Ernest DRAKE, Sol DRAKE, and Jack DRAKE. Some individuals in the
photo are unnamed however the black man in the derby hat was an
all-around porter, that met all the incoming trains with his
horse-drawn carriage to solicit business and deliver the guests to
the hotels in Hendersonville known as "Big B. GREGORY."

his tongue out at the photographer. He can identify all but three
and is requesting anyone who can identify them to call him in
Edneyville at 33818 or the Tribune. From left to right: Roy YOUNG,
